Where I’ve been….   Leave a comment

Ok, so I know I haven’t blogged in a while, but things have been really busy!

First off my in-laws are out-of-state visiting with my sister-in-law and her son’s. They live in Washington, and my in-laws go out once a year for almost a month to visit with them, and then they will fly home for a couple of weeks, usually in august.  But while they are away, we get the task of taking care of things for them. Luckily for us, they have someone stay at their house with the dog, because our dog and their dog aren’t friends….But anyway, we have been taking care of my husband’s grandmother, who just turned 90 in January.  We haven’t had to do much, but run a few errands for her, and do her grocery shopping.  Now let me tell you how much fun it is to have ex-lax pills in your shopping cart. You can imagine the looks I get when I check out of the store.  Anyway, it has to be done, so we do it.

The boys have also been sick.  About two weeks ago, Nathan started to get stuffy and then had a cough, which turned into a little cold.  Well wouldn’t you guess that about 5 days after Nathan started with his cold, that Ethan got it.  And oh, it was a lovely cold.  Things always hit Ethan harder than they do Nathan, they always have and I would guess that they always will.  Well, Nathan’s cold went away without any problem, but come this past monday morning, Ethan was a little wheezy and I wanted to make sure that it hadn’t settled into his lungs, so off to the pediatricians office we went.  Turns out he was fine, his lungs sounded great, and I wasted a trip to the doctor’s office for nothing.  And to top it off, wouldn’t you know that Tuesday morning he was absolutely fine! Isn’t that always the way it works?

And how could I forget that Sunday night my husband woke up throwing up and sick too. I hate when he is sick, I would much rather be sick myself.  He is miserable when sick, worse than the boys even.  Lucky for me it was a fast-moving bug and by the time monday night rolled around he was fine, and none of the rest of us have gotten what ever he had, and knock on wood, so far he has managed to escape having this cold mess that the boys and I have.

Yesterday I had to take Nathan to his ENT for a hearing test and follow-up with the Doctor.  We LOVE our ENT. He has been seeing Nathan since he was about 7 months old and has always been “pro active” when treating either of the boys.  Now, when they were in the NICU, Ethan passed his newborn hearing test with no problems.  And has continued to pass 3 other hearing tests and we are told that we are out of the woods with Ethan having a hearing problem.  We only did the follow-up testing with him, because he was a preemie.  Nathan on the other hand has only passed one hearing test in his life.  And that was a sedated hearing test at 6 months old.  So we know that he can hear, however, he has still not managed to pass a hearing test.  Yesterday was no exception. The ENT doesn’t think that this is an issue tho, especially since his speech is evaluated yearly and that is ahead of where he should be.  We have NEVER questioned his hearing, and I don’t think I ever will. So the consensus from the ENT was that we don’t need to go back to see him unless Nathan has reoccurring ear infections, which then most likely we will look at putting in another set of ear tubes, which would make set number three for him.

So that where we have been, nothing to exciting going on, I wish that there was. But spring is just around the corner, I can feel it in the air! Here’s to looking forward to getting my boys back outside to play a couple of hours every day! And I can’t wait to start walking a couple of miles with them a day too!
